Obituary of Steven Martin MacDonell

Spencer, TN-Mr. Steven Martin MacDonell, 68, passed away Tuesday November 26, 2019 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital. He was a Spencer resident and a Tampa, FL native.  Steven was born on September 11, 1951 to the late Kenneth Archibald MacDonell and the late Virginia Ruth Martin MacDonell. He was a Master Mechanic for Chrysler and Ford, a U.S. Army Veteran and was of the Baptist faith.

Steven was a well-known caver and was a member of the National Speleological Society.  He was a founding member of Spencer Mountain Grotto, a member of the Riders of the Wind and rode with the Christian Motorcycle Association. He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator with his call sign being KE4GZD.

He is survived by his loving wife; Allison MacDonell of Spencer, daughter; Virginia Lynn (Barry) McCormick of McMinnville, step-daughter; Melissa Nan Frierson of Spencer, sisters; Karen Martin Kennedy of Daytona, FL, and Jonni MacDonell of Los Angeles, CA, step-brother; Rodney Bonnot of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren; Carissa (Justin) Jones, Meagan Burgess, Dakota Holland, Christina and Carl Ottinger, great-grandchildren; Carter Wade and Caelynn Rose Jones.

Funeral services will be held Saturday November 30, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Mike Norris officiating.  Visitation will be held Saturday, for family, at 9:00am. Public visitation will be from 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.  Steven chose to be cremated, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
