Obituary of Willard Gene Forsythe

Spencer, TN-Mr. Willard Gene Forsythe, age 89, passed away Friday September 17, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Hospital from a short illness.  A Van Buren County native, Willard was born on February 3, 1932 to the late William Gladys and Lillian Avo Morris Forsythe. Willard was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who instilled faith and devotion to God in his family.  He worked for Powermatic for forty years and was a devout member of Spencer Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Willie Joe and Woodrow Charles Forsythe, sisters; Audrey Lee Simmons and Anna Marie Yates, and son-in-law; Jim Wurn.

Willard is survived by his loving wife of sixty nine years Betty Sullivan Forsythe, son; Marty (Donna) Forsythe of Sparta, daughters; Rhonda Wurm of Spencer and Kim (James) Creasy of Spencer, sister; Kaye (Richard) Cloudus of Cheyenne, WY, grandchildren; Jonathan Wurm, Leah (Josh) Neal, Megan (Matt) Grindstaff, Sarah (Bryan) Hickerson, Amy (T.J.) Whittaker, Emily (Avery) McGinness, Jennifer and Jessica Barnett, great-grandchildren; Alexander and Sophia Neal, Adalynn, Rylan and Remy Grindstaff, Haley, Wyatt, Owen and Knoxlyn Whittaker, Harper and Maverick McGinness, McKenna Barnett and Donald Mackie. A large extended family also survives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 2, 2021 at 2:00pm, in the Layne Chapel, with Bro. Jordon Jared and Bro. Freddie Harding officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Town Cemetery. Visitation times are, Friday October 1st 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday October 2nd 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
