Obituary of Farrell Hicks

Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mr. Glendon Farrell Hicks Sr., 77, passed away Saturday March 12, 2022, at Southern Tennessee – Sewanee Hospital.  He was born in Harriman, Tennessee on November 3, 1944, to James Martin Hicks and Mable Venear Tate Hicks who preceded him in death along with his wife, Eunice Ann Shoemake Hicks; son, Glendon Farrell Hicks Jr.; sisters, Geneva Logan and his twin sister Linda Carol Cranfield; brothers, Paul, Mitchell, Billy and Charles Hicks, Billy Tate.

He was Police Chief for the City of Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee for several years.  He was a farmer, heavy equipment operator, and rental property owner.  He had been a member of the Sewanee Lodge #405 F&AM and was a US Army Veteran.

He is survived by his daughter, LeeAnn Parker; son, James Hicks; brother, James Leon (Jean) Hicks, Seymor, TN; sister, Brenda (Michael) Patterson, Ringgold, GA; grandchildren, Chrissy Lockhart, Clay Parker and Ashlyn Hicks; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery with Minister Micah Roberts officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
