Obituary of Darrell Ray Barks

Beersheba Springs, Tennessee – Mr. Darrell Ray Barks, 68, passed away Sunday June 5, 2022, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was born in Altamont, Tennessee on November 2, 1953.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Ray Meeks, James Ed Barks and Euphemia King Barks; brothers, Ran Meeks and Phillip H. Barks; granddaughter, Shaelyn Barks.

He is survived his wife, Melissa Buis Barks; daughter, Amy (Mike) Fitts; sons, James (Sherry), Cody (Anastasia) and Gary Barks; sisters, Debora (Jim) Stewart, Michelle (Randy) Tucker and Carolyn (John) Kulback; brothers, Sammy (Joyce), Charlie (Cindy), Tim (Michelle) and Danny Meeks; Danny, Melvin, Donald, Franky, Johnny (Shannon), Matt (Patricia) and Gerald (Candy) Barks; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Jeff Sweeton officiating with burial to follow in the New Darrell Barks Family Cemetery on his property.

Visitation: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.
