Obituary of Lonnie Ray Stockwell

Palmer, Tennessee – Mr. Lonnie Ray Stockwell, 79, passed away Monday August 15, 2022, at the Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on May 24, 1943, to Clarence Willard Stockwell and Vina Louise King Stockwell who preceded him in death along with his brothers, James Willard “Tink” Stockwell, Thomas Edward Stockwell, Roger Dale Stockwell and Nathan Wade Brown.

He was a US Navy Seabee veteran serving in the Vietnam War.  Lonnie was a Coalminer and Gentleman Farmer.  He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Congregational Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Lawson Stockwell; daughter, Christie Raydelle Mauffray, Blackshear, GA; brothers, Jerry Calvin (Angeline) Stockwell, Marvin Daniel “Boone” Stockwell, and James Delbert Brown; sister, Beverly Kay (Mike) Rigsby; grandchildren, Reagan Mae and Wyatt Austin Mauffray; several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Bill Ross and Jerry Stockwell officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.

Burial:  1:30 PM EDT Thursday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the US Navy.  Friends and Family will meet at the Cemetery.  No funeral procession or visitation on Thursday.
