Obituary of Ralph Eugene Rieben

Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. Ralph Eugene Rieben, 88, passed away peacefully Friday September 9, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family to join the love of his life, Bonnie Sue Fults Rieben.

He was born in Decherd, Tennessee on June 21, 1934, to Fritz Rieben and Rose Etta Bass Rieben who preceded him in death.  In addition to his wife, Bonnie he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin, Samuel and Roy Rieben; nephew, Alfred Rieben.

Ralph was a mechanical engineer and a US Airforce veteran.  He graduated UT Knoxville on a Saturday and started work at AEDC on the following Monday with 10 dollars he borrowed from his dad.  Ralph served Grundy County as Chairman of the Grundy County Commission for many years and served on the Grundy County Historical Society. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Altamont Ward.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracey Rieben Anderson; stepdaughters, Celeste Wilkerson (Dennis) Wolfe and Serena Wilkerson (Chris) Butler; grandchildren, Anastasia Anderson Lowhorn, Ethan Wolfe, Emilee Wolfe-O’Donnell, Meadow Sluder, Macy Sluder and James Butler; great grandchildren, Audrey and Ansley  Lowhorn; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Altamont with Bishop Jason Blake officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery with Military Honors.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee and 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Church.
