Obituary of Billie Hue Haston

Spencer, TN-Mr. Billie Hue Haston, age 76, passed away Monday February 20, 2023 at Signature Health Care in Cookeville.  Billie was a native of Van Buren County, born on December 20, 1946 to the late Roy and Daisy Yates Haston. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

Billie was a retired Tool & Die maker, a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and served on the aircraft carrier USS Lexington. He was a member of the Van Buren County Rescue Squad for many years. He got great enjoyment during his life riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, racing, and building drag race cars.

In addition to his parents Billie was preceded in death by paternal grandparents; Mal and Emma Sullivan Yates, maternal grandparents; Edgar and Lola Haston, niece; Jennifer Slatton.

Billie is survived by, Sisters; Beulah (Butch) Cope and Linda Slatton both of Spencer, nephew; Justin Slatton of Charlotte, NC, nieces; Angie (Stephen) Walling of Spencer, Misty ( Amy) Slatton of McMinnville, great nieces; Kristen McCoy, Hannah Worthington, great-nephews; Adam McCoy and Braxton Worthington, great-great niece; Alice Daisy McCoy, great-great nephew; Fennec Newby, son; Haylon (Dakota) Slatton of Sparta, grandchildren; Liza Mae and Emma Slatton. Many aunts, uncles and extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday February 23, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. R. C. Christian officiating. Burial will follow in the Molloy Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
