Obituary of Emma Mary Geer

Spencer, TN- Mrs. Emma Mary Geer, age 95, passed away Tuesday March 28, 2023 at NHC of Sparta.  Emma was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 5, 1928 to the late Samuel and Lavina Wiggington Shannon. She was a factory worker for many years and was of the Christian Faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, husband; George L. Geer, daughters; Carol Bates and Anita Geer, brothers; Charles, Edward and Roger Shannon, daughter-in-law; Judy Geer, sons-in-law; Larry Bates and Bob Youngs.

Emma is survived by her loving family, sons; George E. Geer of North Carolina and Robert (Marie) Geer of McMinnville, daughter; Brenda (Doug) Gillentine of McMinnville, grandchildren; Tony (Galina) Geer, Eddie Geer, Wendy (Mick) Shuran. Harold (Emily) Youngs, Robert (Pamela) Youngs, Larry Ray (Kim) Bates, Jenny (John) Forsythe, Tricia (Rich) Ernst, Jeremy Geer, Jennifer (Paul) Weddington, Matthew Bouldin and Robyn Bouldin. Nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 1, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Josh Myers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Spencer Town Cemetery.  Visitation times are Friday 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday 12 noon till time of service at 2:00pm.
