Hermitage, Tennessee – Mr. Lincoln Carson Van Winkle. 84, of Hermitage, Tennessee died Sunday October 16, 2016 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio after suffering from a stroke while visiting family members. He was born in Spencer, Tennessee on September 9, 1932 to Jonah and Bertha Burgess VanWinkle who preceded him in death along with his infant son, Jimmy VanWinkle; brothers, Clayton and Billy VanWinkle. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired mechanic working for Tastee Bread in Nashville and Memphis. He loved anything mechanical including his 1930 Model A Ford. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Cassie Blaylock VanWinkle; daughter, Deborah (Gene) Spires, Mount Juliet, TN; granddaughter, Jessica (Andrew) Pulley, Mount Juliet; sister, Norene Land, Spencer; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday in the Layne Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Cecil VanWinkle officiating with burial to follow in the Lonewood Cemetery.
