Obituary of John Carlis Gilbert

John Carlis Gilbert, age 76, of Doyle, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

Mr. Gilbert was born September 18, 1941 in Sparta to the late Bud R. Gilbert and the late Sarah Louise Wilson.  He married Mary Nell Watford Gilbert.  He was a member of Spencer Church of God.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his son, John Kevin Gilbert (Sandra); daughters, Kimberly Graham (Jason), Kathy Hawkins (Nathan), and Carla Murney (John); brothers, Bud T. Gilbert, Mike Gilbert; sister Faye Hill; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Gilbert and sisters, Pat Morgan and Linda West.

The funeral service will be held at Spencer Church of God Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Jason Graham and Nathan Hawkins officiating.  Jacob and Caleb Hawkins, Samuel Graham, Matthew and Daniel Murney, and Kevin Hoskins will serve as pallbearers.  Burial will follow in the Doyle Cemetery.  There will be a period of visitation with the family at the church, Saturday, June 2, from 3 until 8 PM and again on Sunday from 12 until time of service at 2 PM.
